Meet Wiley

As a father, husband, attorney, state senator, and Congressman for North Carolina, Wiley Nickel has committed his life to public service and delivering for working families.

At a young age, Wiley Nickel saw firsthand how a health care crisis can shake a family when he lost his father to lung cancer as a high schooler.

Wiley worked for two White House administrations — including for President Barack Obama, where he saw and learned from President Obama’s vision of hope and change for America. Wiley also learned that finding common ground and building coalitions is the way to get real results for hardworking American families.

From voting rights to a quality public education to reproductive health care, Wiley has fought tooth and nail for the issues important to North Carolinians.

After 2023 redistricting, North Carolina Republicans gerrymandered Wiley’s seat so that he couldn’t run to represent the 13th district for a second term. Wiley believes gerrymandering is wrong, no matter who does it. Now, he’s fighting for Democrats up and down the ballot to have a winning chance in the 2024 elections.

It’s time to end gerrymandering once and for all, and make sure every voter has a voice in North Carolina. Wiley’s not giving up, and neither should you.
